Hi my name is Shelley, I am 47 years old and have been dealing with severe back pain for 9 years.I have bulging discs L4-L5 and L5-L6 (extra lumbar disc)and tarlov cysts, radiating nerve pain in right leg constantly and left leg after sitting too long(mostly in a vehicle) I have had nerve blocks and an ADR, Physical therapy and many alternative and just plain goofy treatments that promised relief. I am now waiting on a SCS trial. I am currently on Fentanyl 125mcg/h every 60 hours, oxcodone 40mg for break through pain, cymbalta, diclofenec, lyrica, and trazadone.I am just looking for information and support from people who understand chronic pain

  • :H Hi shelley and welcome. I'm new to this forum also. I'm sorry to hear of your chronic pain and I know how you feel. This looks like a fantastic site with lots of support. I look foward to seeing you around the forums. Take care.
  • Welcome to spine health! You have come to the right place for support and understanding. It has been great for me (a fellow Canadian) and would be lost without the help that I have recieved here.

I'm sure with suffering for nine years you have probably tried all the different conservative measures as you said "goofy" and all.

I really hope that you are able to get some relief from the scs trial. Do you have a pm working with you for that? Do you also have a spine fellowship trained orthopedic or neurosurgeon? Are you a surgical candidate? Not that surgery is the cure of all as I am learning 8 weeks out from discectomy/laminectomy.

Look forward to hearing more from you, hope that you are able to get some pain relief.

  • hi and welcome to the forum! we are here to offer you support and answer what questions we can. so glad you dropped in! i want to wish you the very best with your SCS trial.. i do hope it works for you!! enjoy the forum!! good luck! Jenny :)
  • Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome.Karen I have had a disc replacement that failed and they tell me surgery is not an option now.I have a neurosurgeon but I don't know about his training. If pm is pain management, it has never been offered probably because I live in rural Saskatchewan,5 hours from my neurosurgeon.
  • Hello Shelley! I live in Saskatchewan too!
