  • Hi Oliver,

First let me say welcome to spine-health. Have a look around and you will find others in a similar situation as yourself. Unfortunately sometimes it can take a long time to get a proper diagnoses. You say you have DDD, do you know at which levels you have it? When is the last time you have any type of x-rays or imaging of any sorts done? Can your primary care doctor not prescribe anything to help with the pain? I am sure by now you have read up on the articles of DDD and understand it is really not a disease in the way we think of diseases.

One thing that has helped many here is to document their pain and where it is and what you were doing that made it so bad. I know it is a tool I still use to this day, to let me know if things are getting out of control, of sorts. But also it helps to communicate with the doctor where the pain is and what is making it better or worse. We all have different triggers so each persons trigger maybe different but it does give the doctor useful information.

When your hitting those 10/10 pain scales that would be a great time to use your emergency care program. Here in the states part of the pain scale says if we hit a 10 there is noway you would be in your home, as the pain is so unbearable you couldn't take it. So if we go to the doctor and tell them it is a 10, they usually are not really going to help to much as they know your overstating the pain scale. So it is very important to be as realistic as possible about the level of pain. But I am not sure how it works there, so maybe different.

Just thought I would stop by and welcome you to spine-health. If I can be of any assistance don't hesitate to pm me. Take care and hope you get some pain relief.
