Th7-Th8 disc herniation

Hi all!

Since im a newcomer here, ill introduce myself with few symptoms before i was diagnosed with t7-t8 disk herniation.
Its over 2 years now since i had pain in the middle of my back. It was difficult to sit and drive, and it got worse since the pain started to move in front of my ribs and chest. Ive been examined for a heart attack 6 times, aortal dissection, etc etc., but MRi of the spine showed different results that lead to final diagnosis:
multiple Schmorl hernia within lumbar part, degenerated disks
hemangioma C7-T1
disc herniation T7-T8
disc protrusion T10-T11
multiple disc degenration within t2-t11 level

Main symptoms that are bothering me all the time: middle back pain between shoulder blades, vertigo, constant neck stifness, inability to sit or drive cause the pain makes it impossible, after sitting and standing up i have severe pain in front of my chest and ribs. I also feel drifting while walking and weaker legs. Lately, the pain started to expand in my lumbar area, so im reducing it with pain killers.

Ive been through several physiotherapy cycles, swimming, reduced weight, ate a ton of pills, examined by various doctors, and none of these helped me. I had an appointment with a neurosurgent that expressed knowledge and ability to perform a surgery, but first he wants to perform a transforaminal block of Th7-Th9.

Any experiences with this?
P.S. i can post the mri images of the spine, if requested :)

  • Ive seen and consulted more then a few doctors and passed all the examinations, mris and conservative therapy options. Also, i cant drink any more pills cause theyre affecting my neuro system (tramadol and zaracet pain killers).

Thank your for your help. I had an appointment with a doctor that can perform minimal invasive endoscopic disectomy here, but he wants to perform a transforaminal block first. I wanted to know more about this block, cause disectomy itself is perfectly clear :)
Schmorls hernia is the same as schmorls noddles.

What was your experience with transforaminal block?

  • You are going to have a transforminal nerve block? I just had one about two months ago t 4/5/6 they also injected a little steroid it is like an esi but the way they get the needle in is different.

My nerve block was excellent. The first time I felt pain free in the t spine in about 2 years. I think it is an excellent idea before having the discectomy so you identify your true pain generators.

We used mine to help me decide on where to place the SCS leads. I saw your films. Looks remarkably like mine :)

    Good luck,

    Julie
  • Here you go. I found them. I hope it works. I am bad at computer stuff now. Julie
