I have had 2 miscodisectomy on my L4 L5. First one was 09/2007. Second 06/2009, disc currently herniated again.

I went and saw a surgeon last week and I was told I could either get a 3rd microdisectomy or a fusion. With 2 failed disectomy's I am feeling like fusion is my only option. I am terried of getting the fusion but can't live in constant pain. Being only 37 years old with 3 children I would actually like to participate in liffe.

Has anyone had a similar issue with a good outcome?

  • I have not experienced the history of surgeries like you, but I want you to know you are not alone in the pain you suffer! I have intense issues with my lumbar spine and recently (about 4 wks ago) ruptured my L4/L5. Absolutely unbelievable pain...I have neuropathy in my lower leg (knee to big toe), too. Can't feel a thing. I've been referred for a full laminectomy, which doesn't excite me much!

I'm a mom, too, and am just shy of 30 yrs old. Everytime I go to the bus stop to walk the kids home...and they just whiz past me as I limp behind them...I just want to cry.

Wishing you the best for whatever route you find is best for you.
