new to site but not fusions

Hello! My name is Jennnifer. I am no stranger to back pain or surgeries. I had my first discectomy in 2008, my second in 2011, my first fusion(L4/L5)in Feb 2012, and my second fusion(L3/L4) June 2012. My L5/S1 is now herniated. I have severe sciatica in my left leg, along with major numbness. My doctor wants to try neurontin( gabapentin) to help relieve some of the nerve pain before he proceeds with another fusion. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Discectomies 05/08 and 04/11, fusions L4-5 Feb 9,2012 and L3-L4 June 28,2012, Staph infection washout 3/2/2012, Bulged L5-S1. SCS trial on January 17th, 2014, which was a success! Permanent SCS on February 20th.

hi!! i have had very good results from the nerve pain medications.. i have never had such pain relief for my sciatica before... i would certainly try the medication if your doctor thinks you should. give your body time to adjust to the medication, go slowly!! good luck! Jenny
