Triple Fusion Thoracic Surgery

Hi,
I'm looking at having a 3 disc fusion surgery, the one where they go in from the front.
I have no idea what to expect in terms of recovery for this surger.
I've had 2 microdiskectomy's in my lumber, but as my surgeon said, there's nothing 'micro' about this one.
Can someone please tell me what to expect?
Every surgeon that looks at my CT Mylogram just groans and shakes their head, so I know Im in
for a big one.
Any input or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

  • I am having this surgery Tuesday the 6th on one disc T6 T7 with fusion using titanium rods and plates. They are going in from the side working though a small incision. I am mostly concerned about the collapsing of the lung and how that will feel when I wake up. Recovery will depend on how I do, hopefully 3-5 days but could be a little longer. I will post my experience as I go through this. All the best to you.
