My husband has had 2 back surgeries, both done in May 2011, he had a discectomy of the L1 and 2 disc, he has been an almost vegetable ever since, and now he is being told that L3 is ruptured because he has "new" pain, his existing pain was because of nerve damage he was told. I feel he hastily agreed to doing the first surgeries and now i feel he will never be the same again. What other options are there to heal this newly ruptured disc, now I feel his last resort is a fusion and I hear horror stories about those surgeries, or does he agree to fix this L3 and risk having to do ANOTHER surgery when ANOTHER disc fails, I don't get this at all. He has been on pain meds for 2 years and hasn't been able to work. He has made no attempts at exercise, losing weight or anything else, so I am so frustrated with this whole situation. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I want to be supportive but I am losing patience with this whole situation.
