Upper Back and Neck pain since 1.6yrs

I am 32 years old male, have upper back pain (Between shoulder) and neck pain since one and half year.

I took cervical MRI as per the doctor's suggestion an year back ,

MRI report finding was (in June 2011):

"Annular disc bulge with central disc protrusion involving C4-5 & C5-6 inververtebral discs causing mild thecal indentation".

But the doctor told me that i do not have any problem. but i met couple of doctors they also told me the same thing that i told have any problem.

But recently i am getting severe back (between shoulders) and neck pain, i visited a physio, he suggest me to get Dorsal spine.

MRI, findings are:(Feb 2013)

1. Predominantly left paracentral disc protrusio with Annular Tear D7-D8 level causing indentation over thecal sac, left neural recess narrowing with pressure over spinal cord and nerve roots on left side.

2. Disc bulges at D4-D5 level causing indentation over thecal sac more so on right side with mind right neural compromise.

3. Disc protrusion at C6-C7 level causing indentation over thecal sac

I Kindly request to suggest me what kind of treatment i should undergo, i am worried and can i get rid of this problem?

Thank You in Advance

    Hi and welcome,
You may have trouble finding doctors who specialise in the thoracic(Dorsal) spine and it is probably a good idea to find out where to find them. All I can say is that it is unlikely that pain alone is enough reason to undergo surgery which is unpleasant and risky.

Don't rush into physical therapy or other conservative treatments unless you are confident the people performing it are fully aware of your problems. I had the wrong sort of therapy because of a wrong diagnosis and it caused more problems.

    Take care.
