Hello I am a Newbie, Cervical Fusion C3-C7, Newly Diagnosed with Fibromyalgia/Chronic Pain

Hi Everyone,

I am 45 years old. I had C3-C7 Cervical Fusion 2 years ago, was on the road to recovery and about 3 months out starting having widespread debilitating pain, burning, and heat along nerve paths/joints and exhaustion. Pain and exhaustion continues and I was diagnosed about a year ago with sleep apnea, and recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I have also had Facet Blocks and steroid injections. I also have Spinal Stenosis.

I am currently on:
30 mg morphine 3 x day
15 mg morphine 2 x day
up to 5-7.5 mg hydrocodone a day for breakthrough pain
1800 mg Gralise
25 mg nortriptyline
225 mg Effexor

I have had multiple MRI's, X-Rays and an EMG, Tests for Rheumatoid Arthritis and Auto Immune tests were negative

I am seeing Pain Mgmt and the Neurosurgeon

I go to Acupuncture once a week and it helps a lot

Hoping to find some more information from these forums about my conditions and different treatment options!

  • I have found the site quite helpful and people friendly. I have similar issue - DDD, ACDF C3-7, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, sleep apnea. I guess with the sleep apnea that you have a CPAP? I use mine religiously. I recommend you see a rheumatologist to treat the fibromyalgia. I looked up "Gralise" and I see it's the same as Gabapentin. That or Lyrica are often used for fibromyalgia pain. Also you're using flexeril aka cyclobenzaprine for muscle relaxant. Massages can help as well. I don't know if a tens unit would help. I'm 54 BTW.

Feel free to PM me if you want.
