can a damaged psoas muscle cause disc bulge?

Hi,

I have seen a few 'specialists' about my back problems and a few weeks ago I went to see a Mongolian masseur who does acupressure. He said my psoas muscle was damaged and since it is attached to the discs it caused a disc bulge and sciatica. I had an MRI scan which shows a mild L5/S1 disc bulge. I had 3 sessions with him and my sciatica is not as bad as it used to be but my muscles in my buttock and lower back still hurt. I was just wondering if anyone has even been diagnosed with the same thing. I know there are loads of people with a herniated disc from lifting heavy things etc but I think my case might be different. Anyone?
