Cervical Fusion and Autoimmune Disease

I am one week away from cervical fusion (C1-C2) to correct instability caused by Rheumatoid Arthritis. I also have Lupus I am curious to know if anyone with an autoimmune disease like RA or Lupus had problems with cervical fusion surgery. I went off some of my meds last week and promptly developed joint and muscle pain and inflammation. Wondering if this is a harbinger of things to come.

  • Hi. I have had a number of surgeries and had to go off them up to 6 weeks before surgery. Yes, syNmptoms increased, and I couldn't start taking the meds. until the 6 week post-surgery check-up. Then I resumed the meds. and they kicked in within a couple of weeks. Not nice, but necessary.
