I'm 61 and have been having back pain for years, I also have suffered with kidney stones which I thought was causing pain. I have gotten to a point that I cannot walk more the a few steps without severe pain. I can not even carry a glass of water and walk. My Dr sent me to neurologist tests tell me I have L5 disc herniation/nerve root compression. He has sent me to see a surgical Dr. Waiting for appointment. What would I be looking to ask him and if surgery is needed? Has anyone had this problem? I living on pain pills. It feel better if I'm laying flat on my back or sitting .I',m sick of living in this drugged world and not able to do anything. Is this a permanent disability? Any advice would be great .
