August Post op- microdiscectomy.

Hi just wondering if anyone else is having the same trouble as my self , I had a microdiscectomy back in August 2013, I recovered well and rested for 10 weeks like advised, my problem is now the pain is back, nothing like the pain before the operation but its getting there, I have noticed that my foot is becoming weaker, ( I had foot drop before the op) on the right side, and the pain below my buttock and pins and needles are back.

Is this something to worry about? have spoken with my doctor and she has put me back on the pain killers that I had before and got in touch with the surgeon to make another appointment.
Would really appreciate any advise or information, could not go through it again.
Thank you

  • I had my microdiscectomy/microlaminectomy last january 7 2014.. I had suffered foot drop 6 weeks prior the surgery... My surgeon said the herniation was too large and was hurting my nerve pretty bad. After surgery i did not feel any changes.. I did not have sciatica before surgery but because of the weakness progressing and the size of the herniation, the surgeon told me that only surgery is my option. he told me foot drop will get better in time.."my question is when?".... He cant give me at least any number of weeks/months.... Its scaring me... I can still walk but my big toe and the 2nd toe dont flex up and my muscle athropy is very bad...has anyone out there hav the same situation?
