The number of new members we have been getting each week has been growing and growing.
What we have also been seeing is more and more forum violations or incorrect posting. This requires more and more attention from someone on my team. We need to take corrective action on these violations. To new members, this may seem like we are too strict or trying to single out individuals. This is based on the number of comments we see on posts we need to edit and/or delete.
Almost 99% of all of this could be avoided IF new members took just a few minutes to read the Forum rules and FAQ. But, we can tell by the type of violations, there is no question about the member failing to read any rule.
We've even tried to make it easier, by posting a link to the Spine-Health Welcome message and how to get started. That link contains invaluable information that all new members should reference. At this time, we can not force new members to read and sign that they have read / understand / and will adhere to the rules. But we are working on software that will help us so much in that area.
The violations we have been seeing lately are
- - Posting of external links, including personal blogs without first contacting the moderator team.- Vulgar, Sexual statements- Inappropriate remarks- Bad mouthing doctors and the medical field- Specific naming of doctors and institutes- Nasty humor, basically childish
There is no excuse for any of the above violations. All sites have rules, and rules must be followed.
In addition, we have been finding many new members
- - Making duplicate posts- Posting to the wrong threads
This is an educational item that is covered in our Rules and FAQ. We provide why duplicate posting causes more harm, while the poster thinks it is going to provide them with more coverage. Posting to the wrong thread, throws off the continuity of the existing thread. What this is so important
is that we want to reduce these problems so everyone can realize the benefits of this site. We have so many new members that in a short period of time online here, have already benefited in many ways. That is the mode we want to continue in. That is why we need your help!
A new member that better understands the rules of the road, allows my moderator team to spend more time working with other members on their medical conditions.
