Pain from Donor Site (iliac crest)

I had donor bone harvested from my posterior iliac crest in 2011 and 2012 for cervical fusion surgeries. They harvested from the left side both times (same incision site), and I didn't have any pain after either surgery. Now I have developed a sharp pain on the front of my hip, it feels like inside the socket.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks! Monica

  • I too had cervical fusions done an donor bone but my surgeon took it from my rib braise she said that taking bone from the hip has more risks and is harder to heal. I would call your surgeons office and ask them. On my donor site I have had sharp pains every once in a whole but never on going.
  • Thanks Hunter. I will give them a call. Hopefully I won't have to see them because I am currently without health insurance since I lost my job due to my ongoing neck issues. I am mainly concerned because I didn't have any pain there, and now 2 years later it is bothering me.
