tethered cord

I am 66 with congenital tethered cord. It was not diagnosed until recently. Surgery recommended to relieve pain and bladder symptoms. I have Ehlers-Danlos, a congenital connective tissue disorder which means I do not heal well. I will not get the surgery because the symptoms are not disabling and I fear the impaired recovery from surgery.
