Severe hip to thigh pain

Hi. I did post the other day about C5/6 disk extrusion with severe neck, shoulder, and arm pain. I am also now having severe pain in both legs from hip to thigh and paras thesis in both feet off and on. Any walking or sitting with hips bent makes this pain worse and unbearable. I know I did have. Degenerative disc disease also at L4 or 5. I can't remember which. Is it possible this pain is due to my neck or maybe because my lumbar disc got worse. Thanks for your time with this matter

  • I would suggest that you discuss the possible causes with your spine surgeon. He can examine you and give you some idea what may be causing the new symptoms you are having.
  • Hi. I had a C5-C6 discectomy with allograft and plating at same area. My problem is I had some shoulder pain and loss of mobility before the surgery and now it is even worse and pain down my arm I to my hand which gets worse with activity. The shoulder pain is severe if I have to move it past a certain point and hurts all day after it has been moved in this way. For example (not to be gross) but it is difficult to move it far enough to even wipe after havin a bowel movement or if I was using the arm and should and it gets pulled last a certain point it hurts very badly. My question is do u think it is nerve damage from my disc rupture or is this somethin else. I'm frustrated as when I call my neurosurgeons office the nurse there keeps telling me the same thing.....wait a few days and if I is t better call us back. Is this a nerve damage thing and they are waiting to see if it clears on it's own. I'm very frustrated with this and I wish someone would just tell me what's going on or what to expect. I also have continuing pain issues just everywhere. Feet. Legs. Feel all over like I am coming down with something. I'm so tired of hurting and having to continue pain meds. Or is that maybe part of the problem.... The pain meds. I can't seem to get any answers. Just keep having pills thrown at me. Thanks for reading and listening

  • I'm not a doctor & I can't fully explain it but.... I started with lumbar damage causing all the 'usual' pain. This pain was very poorly managed, partly my fault when I convinced myself that I could 'cure' myself with diet & exercise! After a few years of living with terrible pain I started to get pains everywhere. At one point I even told my husband that my spine pain was less significant than my body pain. I went well over a year being diagnosed with pretty much every nerve, pain syndrome out there. I was told at one point that I had every trigger/pressure point for fibromyalgia.
To cut an already long story short, I found my current doc, he managed my pain & all of the other pains went away. I am convinced that in my case it was my bodies reaction to unrelenting pain. I have a way of pushing through the pain. I have a young family. In hindsight it felt like my body was trying to slow me down because of my spine pain.
You describe how I felt for a very long time. I felt so fatigued, "like I was coming down with something' & I hurt everywhere. I was sick & tired of existing in so much pain. As I said, I'm not a doc. Get checked out with the specialists & fight to find what's wrong. I just wanted you to know that it doesn't always last forever. (I'd get really hot & faint & my vitals would skyrocket too)
    Osteoarthritis & DDD.

Hi. It's good to hear someone else with the same sort of issues. Did u eve have the feeling you knew the answer or I was on "the tip of your tongue ". But you couldn't grasp it. That's how I am feeling. As this neurologist I went to ordered another battery of tests. (15 tubes thank u) I now find out my cholesterol went crazy at over 300. My uric acid went back up and my blood sugars also are high. Like all the pain is t bad enuff. The dr Any of them. Have no answers and won't even tell me what they are looking for. I'm guessing this guy is trying to rule everything else out. Ordered all these emgs and eegs. I'm exhausted thinking about it and tired of paying all the copays. Why is all of his happening to me. Then to add insult to injury I can't get anyone to listen to me about the continuing lump I feel like I have in my throat since the surgery. I feel like some kind of hypochondriac or something but I am not imagining all these symptoms I had an infection in my incision al area a few weeks ago I was on kelfex for and don't feel it went away as the incision stays swollen looking. Abcess under it also. Oh. Let's not forget the trigeminal neuralgia that decided to show it's ugly head this month also with the return of cooler weatherWhy am I being shuffled from dr to dr. Somethin is t right. Nobody can tell me what. It isn't normal for anyone to feel the way I do

Hi. I have the same issue. Nothing helps at all. Oxycodone. Ibuprofen. Muscle relaxers. I had an xray of my si joint which showed degeneration. I can only assume it's more arthritis. From havin children it was stretched no doubt. I researched it and they can do surgery and out some kind of plates to help hold it together. But I suggest asking your doc about if it's maybe si joint. Where your pelvis is connected together
  • in 2009, i broke a disk in my lumbar spine and it so happen to be the root of the sciatic nerve where the disk spilled. it takes a little while of bed rest, like at least 6 weeks and then it will begin to feel better. Sitting down, don't even think about it, but i find that anything that made my legs move, walking, biking, was more oxygen to my already constricted nerve. i still struggle with it but mostly exercise is what relieves the pain. Hang in there, the pain is surreal i know and particularly because mine happen to rupture sideways. had surgery to clean up the disk spill and open more room for the crushed disk. It took me at least 8 months to even begin to consider taking small steps to get to a sitting position. Hang in there.
  • Ren. They can give you a diagnostic shot in your SI to see how much pain is coming from there. I had it done a couple of weeks ago. If the shot works they put some steroids in to see if it helps.
I had pints of blood taken too when I was going through all that stuff. They tested me for everything from diabetes to Lyme disease (presents similar to fibromyalgia apparently) My white cells & platelets are always high when my pains not controlled well. Have they tested your hormones & vitamins (all the B's, D, potassium (mine was REALLY low for no good reason!)
I know!!! The co-pays nearly bankrupted me! ;-(
    Osteoarthritis & DDD.
  • All my blood work completely normal. Even vitamin levels good I had injection directly into hip which did nothing. I can't even lift my right leg up to pull of my sock without severe pain. Very frustrating. I have upper and lower emgs scheduled tt
