Rhyzotomy Success Stories?

I am new to this site and am looking for info relative to Lumbar Rhyzotomy as I have a procedure scheduled in a few weeks. So far all I have read is horror stories, which is very concerning to me. Has anyone had success with this treatment? It is hard to imagine that the doctors continue to recommend this treatment if most cases result in increased pain.

Thanks to all that have written on this subject - my heart and prayers go out to you as I can't imagine how disappointing it must be to experience an increase in pain from a procedure that is supposed to provide relief. I would sure appreciate it if there is anyone out there that has had a successful procedure that can offer some encouragement.

My story briefly is that I have been in progressively increasing pain for three years due to a slipped disc and two pinched nerves. I am not a good candidate for a fusion as the disc below where the fusion would be is already damaged form a broken back/ruptured disc 30 years ago. I have had short lived success with epidural injections over the past year and a half so the doc is now recommending a Medial Branch Block followed by a Lumbar Rhyzotomy.

Any sharing you can provide is much appreciated!
