Any good posture (sitting on a chair with legs stretched out / cross legged)

Will sitting on a chair with legs stretched out on a stool of same height as the chair seat ok? I have an abdominal problem that makes sitting normall with feet on the floor a problem? However, it seems to me that if legs are stretched out, then the hips will become lower than the knees which incrases back pain.

Alternatively I can sit cross legged but then the knees start paining and I am not sure if that is good either

  • Thanks for the links. However, this is generic information. I was hoping for specific information on the following (which I did not find in these links).
    A) Will sitting with legs stretched out create problems in back. The issue here is that I cannnot sit in the ideal posture due to other medical issues
    b) I can sit cross legged. But wondering if there are long term effects of that also
    c) Are postural braces of any use.
Thanks for any inputs. ( I have googled and googled and could not find an answer to what I thought were basic queries (a) and (b).)

Nobody on the forum came give you this information, everyone is different and can only speak from experiences, the fact you google and can't find the answers probably tells you there are no clear cut answers.
