Up until a few weeks ago my Mom was an energetic healthy person who walked 3 miles every day (she is 76 years old). She took care of the house and cooked the meals and did the laundry and took care of Dad in every way you can imagine. She is now in such severe pain (10 out 10 on pain scale) in her neck and shoulders and now radiating up to behind her ears. She has been diagnosed with serious arthritis. She cannot take NSAID's or ibuprofen as she only has only one kidney and these meds effect kidney function. Oxycodone is not even touching the pain. She can barely function and it is soooooo sad to see my Mom go from this vibrant, active ball of energy to barely able to take a shower on her own and definitely needs help getting in and out of bed and help in standing up from a seated position and literally we have all taken over doing the everyday household chores that used to be so easy for her to do. I am looking for any news or advice or meds you know of that might help in any way get her some relief. My entire family is doing research and finding things and I lucked out and found you all. She has tried two anti-depressant meds in hopes they would help but just made her sicker and she is now taking something called gabapentin. It is not working but the doctor said give it until next week after she has worked her way up to taking 3 per day. Well 2 per day is doing nothing at all so I don't imagine 3 will either. From what we understand she can get steroid injections to help but those are not a permanent solution and cannot be done for very long.
