Has anyone had any success with prolotherapy for the neck? I have mechanical issues from c7 - c1 / occiput and aside from pain I get dizziness, vertigo, photophobia, migraines, clogged ears (sometimes called barre lieou syndrome). It's awful but I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir.

Anyone have any success with prolotherapy?

Thanks xx

I did have that done a couple of times, I had a herniated disc at c6 -c7 that has since been fused. I remember that it was my pain management doctor that did the injections, and the last office visit I had with her she said she could put this giant syringe full into my neck and maybe that would give me just a little bit of relief. It didn't heal anything but it did lessen the pain for a little bit. I remember it was a giant needle and a giant syringe, reminded me of something they would use on a horse. She put it in without x-ray or anything, just shot it where I was hurting. I know that 45 minutes later when I got home I showed my wife where she did the injection and it still had a giant hump where the fluid hadn't absorbed yet.
For me it was just temporary but I don't know how that works for others.
  • I have had multiple prolo treatments for a thoracic spine and rib issue. I have success with these treatments and will be continuing with them.
  • Any success with treatment??. I'm in the same boat as you and desperate.

  • I suffered and was off work for 6 months after terrible neck burning pain headaches and migraines. My neck felt like it couldn't hold my head up properly and when I went over a bump in a car or bent over I literally felt like my head would roll off! My muscles seemed to be working too hard and spasming. Chiropractic and physio and acupuncture worked a little but gradually got worse and thought I would never work again.

Found prolotherapy on American sites  caring medical explanation was the best and found blackberry clinic UK to help me. Took full 8 weeks to start working and I am so much better. I still had muscle spasms in top of my back and shoulders and have had trigger point injections a few times now and also nerve blocks in neck. Still in pain but can live my life and work now.

I hope this helps someone. Please don't give up and keep pushing and researching. I was ridiculed for looking on forums and Google as I couldn't get any answers from neurologists and doctors after MRI scans etc but I managed to self diagnose and get the right help! Good luck !
