Due to neck pain and numbness in arms/hands it has been proposed I have surgery for relief. My Dr. is recommending to do a ACDF with possible +/-- PCLF. I'm assuming he will make that decision to do one or both when he gets in there. For anyone who has had this surgery done (one or both together) I would appreciate any info/experience you might have to help me understand what I am dealing with. Thank you. BGS

ACDF - anterior-cervical-discectomy-and-fusion
PCLF - Posterior Cervical Laminectomy-and- Fusion

  • I waited 1 1/2 yrs before my surgery was approved and I finally had surgery on c5/6 and c6/7... pain from surgery healed fine however, I am having worse pain than before. I'm talking knee-buckling stabbing pain in my shoulder blade/ shoulder area... I'm afraid much damage was done awaiting surgery that will not go away... could this be nerve damage and what would be my next step... I, am only 1 week post-op, but so many told me they felt immediate relief when they awoke from surgery... what could have gone wrong with me... the time waited prior to surgery, which I must mention was a worker's comp insurance process....
