My story is long but I will make it short. I injured my back at work ( I have a job that requires constant lifting). I had an MRI of pelivis and lumbar spine. They were pretty much normal except for some minimal bulging disks. I developed radiculopathy in the right leg along the way. Had an EMG test which hit on l5 and s1. Neurologist was suppose to check for s2 but for some reason didn't. Had my first epidural and it went horribly wrong. They targeted l5 and s1 only. I guess just enough steroid leaked down to s2 and made it very angry. I ended up in the ER over the pain. Second epidural they targeted all 3 nerves. I had minimal relief for about 5 days and when symtoms came back, they came back like a raging bull. Doctor feels at this point a rhizotomy is my next step. I have constant sciatica pain and can barely walk. Prior to this, I was extremely active. I did also have a mylogram done which didn't reveal any pinched nerves. For some reason the inflammation in these nerves will not go away. I was wondering if anyone could share their experience with a rhizotomy. I have to admit, I am a bit scared at this point but it seems this is my only option.
