Hi all..heres my story..sorry if its too long!

So 4 months ago i had pain, went for MRI and showed bulging disc at c6/7,first doctor wanted to operate straight away!...time for a second opinion i think..so off i went to Bangkok and saw an expert here, he recommended a course of meds (prendisilone/lyrica) and physio..after weeks of agony almost overnight on the meds i had instant relife! thank god.
I continued with this course of meds/physio ect and showed great improvement,so much so i was talking about going back to boxing..
Anyway long story short, i woke up one morning a while after with alot of pain again, not near the first time and it felt kinda different..more pins and needles and some pressure but it comes and goes, back to the docs and they gave me some more steroids to ease things and i also saw another doc who noticed ALOT of tightness/tenderness and tender points around my scapula and winging..she said this is possibly the cause of my new pain as this are can cause similar symptoms as the C6/7 problem..Just my luck!

So my conclusion now is i am trying dry needling on the muscles around scapular and physio for both neck and scapular area...

Has anybody had experience similar to this??.. Do we think it could be mainly scapular related? is that possible?
And also its been 4/5 months now, i have improved greatly with only slight loss of strength in my triceps but no Major pain consistently, just a few sharp nerve type pain in an area and the pins and needles type feeling in certain positions..
Honestly do you think i will recover naturally? just in your opinion?

Im so sorry for the long post, my life and job is fitness , i just miss training so much! :(

I had c4/5 fusion surgery. I also have been complaining of shoulder pain throughout this whole process. The day I injured myself I told the doctors that my neck & shoulder both hurt. I was told that the pain in my shoulder was coming from my neck. I had X-rays & mri of shoulder & was told everything looked good? Fast forward 2 years, and I'm still complaining of shoulder pain? When I was at my surgeons office last month, he told me it wasn't coming from my neck? I now have an appointment at a new ortho shoulder doctor next week. I am beyond frustrated!

  • Ahh that is so frustrating!! I feel for you..
Just wish it was possible for correct diagnosis every time ( of course I realise it isn't)

One physio I see is very confidant my neck is on the mend and the new pain is muscular , I hope she is right! The two give a lot of the same symptoms apparently and the muscular scapular issues can be caused by the neck issues..
It's to frustrating and does get me down
