Hello. I am new to this forum and find it very knowledgeable. With an intention to understand what is the terminology stated in my Son's MRI result.
It is painful to see my son in pain and couldn't sleep most of the night and while he still needs to handling his final exams in his 1st year of university. The long waiting referral from his doctor to see specialist at least 4 to 6 months and is a timing dilemma for this young man as he has everything line-up on his schedule right after his exams. He is also determine heading to Botswana in June for his 1st intern within the University program.
Wondering if any one can help me with this MRI diagnosis in non doctor terms.
For some reason and do not know how he hurts his back something and he has had chronic pain for the past few months weeks shooting down to his leg (some sort of nerve pinching). Here is the MRI results.
FINDINGS- The conus medullaris terminates normally at the T12 level.
At L3/4 - There is minor disc bulging impressing thecal sac.
At L4/5 - There is mild Degenerative disc disease. There is moderate broad-based disc bulging impressing the thecal sac and causing at least mild central canal stenosis. There is also mild left and mild to moderate right neural foraminal narrowing due to the disc bulging. ********************************
