Please Help - Im in agony

Glynwales01GGlynwales01 Posts: 1
Hello there, please I need help. I am a runner, I used to train 5 times a day for cross country events / indoor track and field. However, a year ago I gained a hernia on top right of pelvic area. Had 9 months off training then had the operation. Then, went back into teaching after 2 weeks off to recover. As I was writing on the white board I felt this pain in my buttock but thought nothing of it. then it developed to sciatica down the leg. I've had to deal with this pain for over 2 years now, but it has been getting increasingly worse until the last 3 weeks. The past 3 weeks have been hell! I've been to A&E with severe sciatica, pain all the way from my buttock down the right hand side of my leg to the foot which has it's outside to the middle toe, completely numb! I can't put my socks on without being in pain and all the doctors have prescribe me with are cocodamol and pain killers. Ive been given a set of stretches, but every morning I wake up in agony. All day it comes and goes and I can't carry on with life. It's getting me depressed. Over the past year I've spent £300 on a chiropractor - useless, acupuncture, osteopathy and general sports massage. Nothing woks and it's getting me down. I've even bought those tense machines! Does anyone know of any different treatment or has any advice? Please help xx

  • Glyn It seems that you have tried every option available. You should see a neurosurgeon and have an MRI done to see what is happening to your back. I wih you good luck

  • Don't think mine is quite as bad but I have the same issues. MRI showed herniated disk material in spinal column. My pain also runs down leg (Right side) and into top of foot. I am able to mange it but at times it is unbearable. I find that when I walk fast it dosen't hurt as bad. But back to your problem, I agree with the other person who responded to you, it is time for an MRI and a follow up with a neurosurgeon. If professional athelets can have this procedure done and go back to their sport, i'll bet you can too. Good luck Glyn
