microdiscectomy unusual post opp

I was wondering since it seems to be odd . I had a microdiscectomy of the l5-s1 the experience wasn't the best. Anesthesia didn't listen for anything, and the incision going in was supposed to be 1" but was 4 and I didn't find out Till I took the dressings off and I was told I could start pt at week two,now they are seeing week five. What confuses me is in doing great, I have been since day one. I was only in pacu for about twenty minutes after waking up and they started my discharge about ten minutes after I got a room. The therapist cleared me without even seeing me because I wasnt even in the room. On day five I was cutting grass and the inky issue I seem to have is some minor pain and a bit of burning down my legs. I had all my feeling back upon waking. Tightness in my back around the incision area. I've read so many horror stories about slow recovery and pain. I want to know if anyone else has been like this. I haven't been able to stop moving since I woke up pretty much. Any feedback would be appreciated thank you.

  • now everyone is different however, I was given strict instructions no bending no lifting, no stairs , no sitting at 90 more then 20 mins and that walking on a level ground slow and steady wins the race....now that was for the disectomy with no instrumentation...but if you read my story maybe something will be similar and feel free to PM.
