Hi. I've just been diagnosed with spinal stenosis. I am only 24 and can't seem to find anything about young people having stenosis. Does anyone know how I've got it at such a young age? And is there a cure? I don't know if I can live with this pain for ever :'-(

My surgeon is great, I've thoroughly vetted him. From what I have studied he has accurately identified 2 pain generators at L1-S5:Waste material all around nerve from herb disc and bone spurs SOLUTION:Total clean out around nerve which means some bone come out. This will exacerbate instabilty because of damaged disc with some bone out. The fusion will lock up spacing & movement. The nerve will be cleared. All my other spine nerves are clear ( for comparison).Procedure time:2-1/2 hrs max cause the op rm reserved for 4 hrs including setup & cleanup time. Now my focus is to keep walking & keep core muscles up to date. I can do pain if the ultimate goal is in sight. He says I will do fine....biggest risk:infection. My age:68 male

  • one of my complications has been lumbar spinal stenosis...it's been horrible, but with acupuncture, special PT work and spinal exercises I do a couple times per day, I can now sit and not be in horrid pain. For a while I was going everywhere with a donut pillow, now I don't. But do sit on the donut pillow at computer.

There are many spine exercises for this condition.

As I see it for me, with surgery my body has been thrown out of alignment in many ways...my stability is awful too.

Dealing with bodywide osteoarthritis and Fibro doesn't help things.
