Sciatic pain was completely gone and now it's worse...

Hi Everyone,

About two months ago I was diagnosed with a L4 L5 herniated disc and disc desiccation. It happened when lifting my daughter and I felt a pop in my lower back. I didn't respond very quickly to my injury as I was told that I probably pulled a muscle. I went to my doctor a week later who ordered the MRI. During all this my pain was mostly in my lower back and slightly in my right butt cheek and leg. I began to do stretches and exercises at home and began to feel better. The pain was completely out of my legs but lingered in my back. At 5 weeks post MRI I went to a spine specialist who ordered Physical Therapy. I began PT and after 4 sessions my leg pain came back and much worse. The pain goes down both legs. It feels tight, numb, tingling at times they cramp. It's beginning to become hard for me to walk. The pain and soreness that I once felt in my back is gone. And now it's down my butt all the way to my foot. I began acupuncture to find some sort of relief. So far I had only one session. I don't understand how I went from being so much better to so much worse. My doctor was very positive when he saw that all my pain was in my back. What happened? Will this go away? I'm only 27 and I have three little kids. It's beginning to get so hard to take care of them. Please share your stories and results. Thank you!

i am 74, and had very severe pain in my butt and right leg. i tried acupuncture and while the first treatment didn't help much, i kept going and after about ten treatments i am now pain free. i'm now trying to decide if i want to go through with scheduled surgery.
