Arficial disc replacement...anyone else had it other than me?

Just curious if anyone else has had ADR?

Im almost 3 weeks post op ADR and don't really see a lot of ADR surgeries on these forums. I received the M6 disc, C5/6 level. I herniated my disc 3 years prior and was basically living in pain shooting down my shoulder blade, down my left arm and thumb. I really did not like the thought of a fusion and lucked out by finding a trial for the M6 artificial disc. I was in a soft collar for 2 weeks and basically am only taking Nsaids with occasional pain killer or muscle relaxer at night for nerve pain/soreness. I struggle with nerve pain still, which is to be expected after gaining new disc space in my neck and nerves, muscles, tendons, being stretched and adjusting. My logical brain knows all of this, but the rest of me is impatient and just wants to feel like normal human being.

  • I had the same surgery, don't remember the name of the artificial disc type tho. I know exactly how you feel. I am four weeks post now and so would like to get back to "normal" also. This past week has actually been worse for me. I have had pain just like having a migriane on and off for six days. They said it muscle spasms. Almost went to the ER one evening. I am in my second steroid pack. You might want to call them and tell them how bad your pain is. The first steroid pack really took down a lot of swelling, I'm hoping this second pack will help with the pain. I am at my wits end. I have been in the house for 12days now. All I do is lay around. I can't sit up very long. I've been out three times and regretted it immensely. I hope you feel better soon!!
