Intense Sciatic Pain Post-Epidural

hi! i am a new member to this community. it is providing great insight on sciatica and back pain issues. i want to throw this out there as i haven't found much about what has been happening to me. okay, i'm 33 and in general fit and healthy. i started with lower back spams in late november '14 and due to not getting pt early enough and doing field work for 2 months, i herniated my l5/s1 in late april (i think). i've been getting pt from june- present and saw an orthopedist and got an epidural cortisone shot a week ago. all seemed to go well and my pain was really relieved for about 4 days. then it felt like i "tweaked" my back again and by the 4th day evening i am in such intense pain that i cannot sleep or lay down. i made a pointed effort to take it easy post-shot and there wasn't any more injury.

basically i'm worried; i was in annoying but bearable pain before the epidural and now it is so intense that i am really non-functional. the main problem is that i can't lay down at all; i can only really sit; which is making sleeping really hard. i am supposed to go into the field in two weeks, waling ~10-miles a day and camping 6 nights/week and i am really worried that this wont pass in time. if anyone has had this reaction to an epidural and can give me some warning of what comes next, i would really appreciate it. thank you!
