Going in for L5-S1 Revision ALIF this Thursday. Very Nervous.

  • Just got home and everything went well. I'll give more details when I'm feeling better.

The front belly area is crazy painful!!

Praise God and thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone.

  • Wife got well the next day, but I didn't have her help for 24 hours.

I finally had a BM after 6 days and boy was that hell!! Have not been out of the house yet. So far recovery is going as expected other than a side effect that only happens to males. Right testy got swollen the size of a lemon. That whole area was filled with excess blood from "normal" blood loss during surgery. Guys, this is something they don't tell you prior to surgery.

It's much better now. Just dealing with "as expected" back pain and incision pain.

  • Thanks Susanne,
I started getting the leg and calf pain you are experiencing too. Today I woke up and was in tears like a little kid, I could barely walk.
I had my 2 week follow up 2 days ago and they decided to put me on gabapentin for the sciatica and calf cramping. Time will tell if that helps.
Have you tried that one? Hope you are doing well and I also pray you heal up quickly.

When I first got home from the hospital I thought this was going to be easy and I could get back to work super fast...yeah that was the drugs talking! Now reality is setting in and I think this is going to be a very long process.
