hi everyone,

my name is elizabeth and i'm 21. i have just had a second operation within a week for a severely prolapsed disc. is there anybody my age that is having/had anything similar? i would really like to hear about others experiences and what you did with your time. i have been told i'll be off work and basically everything else for at least 3 months.
i'm keen to hear about how others are coping further into recovery also.

Aejh, it's good to hear a little about you. I'm thirty and keep getting told I'm too young for narcotics, even though it's all that's helping, curious if you had to convince doctors about your problems as well and how you discovered your issues? My doctor is sending me to a surgeon and I'm extremely nervous!

  • Hey mrs old lady (:
What sort of symptoms do you have? It was pretty easy to explain how I felt to the my doctors, although I did end up changing doctors, not because they needed convincing but because she didn't do any follow up. My current doctor referred me to a surgeon who ordered an MRI which helped him make a diagnosis like straight away. Have you had a diagnosis?

  • Yes! I've been diagnosed with everything in my signature. My symptoms started during my pregnancy, chalked it up as normal pregnancy pains, but after having my son and losing the weight, my pain worsened. I can barely move in the mornings, I have to roll sideways to get out of bed. My lower spine to mid spine aches and feels like it's being twisted opposite directions. I get shooting pains in my left lower spine that radiates down my left leg, pins and needles in my legs and feet, sometimes numbness. Any physical activity (walking, cleaning the house, etc) usually leaves me unable to walk the next day due to excruciating pain when applying pressure on my left leg that shoots up my spine. I also have muscle spasms and extreme tension in all back muscles. I strain my neck and back muscles from no known cause at least once a month.
