2 years ago I was told I had arthritis at C3 C4--- caused some pain for awhile mostly lots of neck pain and headaches..... few meds, couple exercises all symptoms went away..... At the beginning of September 2015 I woke up screaming in pain and couldn't move I had the worse pain I have ever felt on the left side of my neck in my shoulder and in my upper left forearm.... my husband took me to ER, I was told I probably just slept wrong they gave me a pain shot and muscle relaxer shot and sent me home told me to follow up with my family dr if it didn't improve, I went home fell asleep and when I woke up I was unable to lift my left arm. I followed up with my family dr the next day.... she said there was something definitely serious going on, as I didn't notice when I stood with my arms down my left arm never came next to my body it was out about half a foot, she scheduled an MRI and CAT scan. The MRI and CAT SCAN showed the arthritis was pretty severe from C1-C7, and that the C3 C4 C5 and C6 were buldging onto the nerve area causing cervical radialopathy. Due to the severity of the pain, loss of mobility etc. I was sent immediately to a spine specialist the next Thursday who said the only way to relieve it was through surgery that needed to happen quickly. I had ACD surgery with no fusion on C3-C6 on Sep 21 2015....
Post surgery--- immediately I was out of the extreme pain, numbness tingling was gone, some minor arm pain remained, no mobility returned. Starting yesterday though the minor arm pain is increasing, the tingling is back and still no mobility in lifting my arm.
Not looking for medical advice as I see my Dr again on the 22nd. I just want to see if anyone else has had a similar story and if mobility was regained, and if so how much? Has there been additional problems or did it fix everything.
Just wish I wasn't in so much pain at the time that I had more time to ask questions. I was literally non functioning prior to surgery though and I am at least at a comfortable level now.
