Lots of Questions about MRI's and Where to Begin?

I'm here for a friend who has no support network and can't set at a computer or even talk/text since it takes so long to start her day and she can barely get through all of her tasks. I have to find out what her insurance is, but she is having a hard time getting an MRI ordered. She has had 9 back surgeries, has some artificial spine, screws in her lower back and one or two fusions? Her main complaints are that
the screws are too large and seem to be working their way out,
that she had a pain pump put in but had to have it removed because it also was too large,
that her doctor that gave her prescriptions has all but disappeared and her new doc is afraid of the DEA and reduced her medications,
that she can't get anyone to agree to give her an MRI so that she can get a current assessment and course of treatment.

Also, a search tool would really help here on this forum so is there one?

Big questions:
how does one get an MRI ordered and
are there any fantastic surgeons in the USA who are experienced with complex back issues and failed surgeries?
Where is the best place to start for someone who lives in a rural area and has to drive themselves everywhere.

she can't waste time or money - which is true for everyone, but in this situation, wasting any efforts could have some very dire consequences. She is losing her will.

Thanks so much!
