Am newbie with a common question it seems. Am 63 and in good health and had a 3 level Laminectomy 6 mos. ago with a fusion at the L3/4. According to my spine surgeon I have a text book recovery going on but still have intermittent bouts of right hip/back Sciatica. Pain is bad early morning after getting out of bed but dissipates an hour or 2 later. Walk 2 miles every day and do back stretching /strengthening exercises religiously. Very frustrating, but doctor said nerve roots can take 18 mos./2 years to fully heal. Seems like recovery times are all over the map. Good news is this is the only real discomfort I have.
