8 wks post op from a L3/4 lam/disk. I am doing really well butt.. no punn intended!..................
when I sit down my butt and vag area goes numb. I am sitting on a doughnut and that does help. Standing up releives the pressure but once the area goes numb it takes a while to get the feeling back. I also have been having a bit of tailbone pain.
anyone else???? I need some reassurance here!
thanks

  • You can ice it, also try stretching.
  • I also have my butt go numb. Not vaginal area. Also have pain in tailbone. I had it before discectomy and still have it.

  • I used often to have my butt go numb especially if I had been sitting for a while. All of that is fine now that I have had fusions.
The tailbone pain could be that your cocxyx is displaced. Ask the Dr next week but when I had a hip replacement 2 years ago I could barely sit except with a donut, or even lie on my back as the coxyx was out of alignement.

    Hope things improve.

  • Is that why I feel so weird down there???

I tell ya, my behind is just not normal since surgery. It's not so numb that it don't hurt though.

Of course I feel more like I'm a bug that's been pinned and put on display more than anything!
  • Hi Bobbi:

Be thankful that your butt is numb part of the time (than you can't feel it)! Tail bone pain is common (from what I have read) after fusion surgery. I had it for sometime after my TLIF. Don't sit for long periods of time, and change position often. It does get much better with time.
