Warning: Before you try any supplement, herb, over the counter item, exercise program, mechanical aid, brace, etc always consult with your doctor to make sure you get their approval. Some of these products may be very effective, but no two individuals or medical conditions are alike. What works for one, may cause trouble for another..

For some medical conditions and for patients on medication they should not take magnesium before discussion it with their doctor

100% agree with Liz on this....End of the day, it's up to the Individual to see what suits best for them after their fact finding.

    Best Regards...

Right!  My surgeon wants me to take vitamin D, Calcium and Magnesium, but it's important to not take them at the same time as Neurontin, since the minerals can block it from being absorbed.  Easy solution for me is to take the minerals in the morning and the Neurontin and Flexeril at bedtime, since they both help me to sleep.
He will want me to be off of all medications just before the surgery, and I'll have to ask him about adding the D, Calcium and Magnesium back in, since I know that he'll have me taking the Flexeril and Neurontin around the clock for a while after the surgery.  I'm highly allergic to opioids, so my choices for pain are pretty limited.
Ask your doctor how he feels about those minerals - they are supposed to help with bone building.
Mmmm - protein drinks are yummy, too!

I  love to do something alternative other than fusions. but I was told it was impossible in my situation. C-7 to T1 is very rare. My doctor specialists in only removing the disk tissue leaving the disk in place but mine is huge and pressing on the spinal cord.

I have changed habits to the point of moving from my home, completely changing diet to totally organic and no processed food and daily physical therapy, bone broth, MSM, ACV drinks, etc. Problem is 2 month sof changes is nothing compare to the size of this it would take a year or more meanwhile risking paralysis. B

However they moved my surgery to the 21 so I have a few weeks to get more opinions. The other problem is I have not found anyone to give me a 2nd opinion before October. Still looking.

    Dear Robin,

From my Direct Experience from 2 Spinal Fusions, Please avoid going for Fusions and try some Non-Invasive Non-Surgical procedures & treatments by changing your Habits and Lifestyles rather than suffer later from the Fusion. Fusions are a major Failure since they don't address the later problems that degenerate the regions below the Fusion area resulting from the Strain, Imbalance & Overload from the top over time.
