26 and suffering

Hi

I have been suffering with back problems for the last 12-18 months. I have been back and fourth to the GP during this period been sent for scans and on numerous medication. I have had a MRI on my back and I have a herniated disc in my L4-L5. I have had one steroid injection and I am awaiting my second. My symptoms are currently

Shooting pains down my left hamstring and in the knee
Very very tight left hamstring
Upper groin spasms
Constant feeling of Latic acid build up and aching in my lower back
Constant aching in either hip
Constantly needing to click the top of my back/neck
Hips clicking on certain movements.

I have tried a physiotherapist and a chiropractor, also a sports massage therapist with no luck.

I am only 26 and still quite active. I am trying to get back into shape but I am really struggling with the constant pain. I am not in pain whilst exercising, however as soon as i stop and cool down my back and hips seem to seize up and the aching and shooting pains kick in.

Has anyone else had similar symptoms? I know I do I have slight infringement on my nerve but I am wondering weather I should get my hips looked at to ensure that the route of the problem is definitely my herniated disc. I have read a number of articles/website which describe some of the symptoms but I am not sure if anyone has had all of them, especially regarding the hip pain and grow spasms.

Any help in getting back to fitness would be appreciated.

Cheers

Luke

    welcome to the spine-health forums.

i am sorry that you are experiencing this.  my experience is with my neck, so i don't have much advice for you except that maybe it is time to meet with a spine specialist, like a neurosurgeon or orthopedic surgeon.  that would be a good way to get more answers - gps are great, i love mine, but i go to specialists when appropriate and i think that you have hit that point.
