Bowling ok after Micro D L5S1

Hi fellow back peeps- I'm about 16 weeks post micro and am wondering if bowling in my usual bowling league is a bad idea? Has anyone tried this after back surgery?
Thanks in advance,
Belinda

    Ouch.....
I dont know.  that is not a really long time post surgery.  I would check with your doctor before you tried anything.

I have never been able to bowl.  Too much strain on back/shoulders/arms/legs   But then again, I have had a number of other surgeries along the way.

    Hi Belinda
Good question! I am almost 3 months post op, same surgery,  same place. I'm not in a league (was years ago) but my husband has talked about going. I told him I don't feel ready yet.

In another month? Maybe, but I would double check with the surgeon first.

I bowled after my surgery (same as you), but I think it was more like 6 months post-op.  Everyone is different.  Are you active besides?  Doing other regular exercises?  I think if you are sofa-surfing most of the time, to pick up a new sport on a regular/frequent basis might be a bit much.  Maybe try to go bowling a couple of times before league play, no pressure, and see how you feel during, afterwards?  I remember being uncomfortable with it, but it's not my regular sport either.  I did a lot of golfing after my surgery (again, about 6 months post-), and I was told, if it doesn't hurt, it should be ok.  Unfortunately, I did re-herniate almost a year post-op, but doctors and I don't really think it's anything I did or didn't do.
