Alternative Healing parallel to Medical help

Hello all. I am new to the forum.

I have had a bi lateral pars defect on the L5 with a bulged disc and pinched nerve on the L-4/L-5 root from a sports injury in college around age 21. Steroid injections helped at the time. Now less than 10 years later since the injury and I have a flare up back pain due to the spondylolisthesis coupled with arthritis around the facet joints causing spinal stenosis. After two recent rounds of steroid injections to treat each site (pars and facet), the pain has worsened post injection.

The pain anesthetist who performed the injections has also recommended radiofrequency ablation after steroid injections, should the injections prove ineffective. I am tentative to do more at the moment, since my medical bills have increased with the injections, but they have provided no relief, and I am now worse for the wear. My orthopedic surgeon also suggested that if these alternative pain treatments due not provide relief, that surgery will be inevitable in the future. Him and I are in agreement that I would like to put that off for a later age.

My questions are...

Has anyone found
1. Exercises/rehab which lessens the pain?
2. Something to aid with sleep discomfort outside the usual side sleeping and back sleeping with pillows between legs? Mattress suggestions? Which provide the best support/comfort which better sleep?
4. Alternative pain treatments outside invasive surgery?

My goal is to do everything I naturally can to alleviate my pain while I consult with my doctors on how to approach this medically.

I appreciate all advice! Best of luck to all back pain sufferers!
