Post op anterior 3 level fusion

Hi, I have had anterior 3 level fusion with carbon fibre replacement discs, titanium plate with 8 screws to c4,5,and 6, some 12 years ago. I am a heating engineer involved in a lot of physical work. Over the years I have had various minor levels of pain that I can always shake off. The last 6 weeks I have been getting severe stiff neck pain, no nerve pain, but at least 1 minor nosebleed every day . I have never suffered from nosebleeds and the ENT consultants are a loss........could this be related to my neck condition, has anyone else suffered with this. There appears to be very little long term prognosis available for what I have had done.......does anybody have any experience of this

    Paul - Welcome to Spine-Health!

Sounds like we have a couple of things to consider ... Although nosebleeds are within the realm of an ENT specialist - there are a laundry list of potential causes that would fall outside their expertise.  Some of those diagnoses could include things such as hypertension - blood clotting disorders as examples.

Any known cause for the onset of the neck pain? Have you had your neck evaluated for "recent" changes to its status?. Have you heard of adjacent disc disease?

What exactly do they say you have done? New issue or the original fusion?  And why the bleak prognosis? In my experience - I have never heard of status post fusion being a cause of epistaxis.

Again welcome to the forums - Hopefully someone else may have experienced this and will join in.

    Respectfully,

    MN
