Low back and hip pain

I have never ever had back pain, I am 53 years old. I have a job where I have to walk around for 12 hour shifts, 3 days a week. Seven weeks ago I started to get low back pain after walking for half hour, slowly got worse, last 4 weeks I've started to get pain in my left hip, which goes into a spasm like pain, which is so painful I have to sit down for 10 mins. Been to drs 3 times, says I have muscle strain. Signed me off work for 2 weeks, which has made no difference. I wake up in night with pain. I'm fine when I'm sitting down. Surely after 7 weeks I should start to feel better.
