Epidural for herniated disc

MRI shows L5-S1, there is a central to left posterolatral disc extrusion measuring 6mm in diameter ad compressing the left thecal sac and the left S1 nerve root.  This MRI is done 7 days after my first epidural injection.  My condition did no improved much.  In the morning, after I woke up, I can stand and walk for 30 to 60 mins at most.  Then pain in left hip and left calf kicks in.  I must curl up for the rest of the day.
Spine doctor suggest me to try another epidural (since 1st one has a little improvement) and hope if 2nd one can help more.  If 2nd one does not work, then I will see a surgeon.
Anyone has any comment to share in my situation?
