Opiod allergy.

I  suppose I am not the only one out there with this, the opiods give me a horrible itchy scritchy feeling all over.  Now, I have tried most everything in that class, its all the same.

Surgery number 27coming up in  May, a total reverse shoulder op.  I am hoping for some input on the best non-opiod option for immediately after surgery.  So far it looks like googling gets me pretty confusing results.

Good to have you back after a long absence.  I don't have experience with Opiod Allergies, so I can't help much - hopefully someone else will jump in.

I do want to wish you will with your upcoming surgery.  Good luck.

  • Thanks Bruce... I had forgotten about this forum, and stumbled back to find that I had already signed up, lol.  First guess on the  password got it.

I dont remember when the first post was, but based on my memory, its been a long time.  So, update.  October of 12 I disclocated my left knee sideways, completely snapping three of four ligaments, a tendon, and also a tibial plateau fracture.  Was supposed to be two surgeries to repair, but a MRSA set into the joint, and nearly  killed me.  Three months of an IV pump, 5 addl surgeries, and two hearing aids (anti-b's attack specific nerves in the ears), I am here and alive.  Since then, I've also popped and  ACL in the other knee, and had the left shoulder tear a muscle loose requiring surgery.  Now, the total replacement on the right.

Adding all the priors (yes, I had a head on collision with life) this one coming is #27.  Ready for it to all be over with, really.  On the good news side, I have remarried to a lovely woman, relocated to Idaho, found a house I could buy for cash, and thats all good stuff!

    Cheers to you all!
