Introduction 3 weeks post-op

Hi everyone. I joined right before my surgery because I thought the 'surgery buddies' threads were a great idea. In April, I had an open L5-S1 discectomy for a large far lateral herniation that was compressing the L5 nerve root. I was in agony 24/7 prior to surgery and felt it was the best option, but as the day grew closer, I started freaking out a bit. I posted in the April surgery buddies thread, and I didn't realize how helpful it would be at the time. Talking to people who are also recovering has helped me to remain positive, while also allowing me to vent frustrations with people who understand. My recovery so far has had its ups and downs, but I believe it's going well overall. I'm very thankful for my April surgery buddies!
