2nd ACDF surgery

Wow, been forever since I was on here.  I'm 5 weeks out from surgery on C4/5 and C6/7.  I had fusion done on 5/6 back in 2009.   Doing well still having small issues with getting choked on pills, food and some drinks.  Biggest issue is the horsness.  I didn't have either issue with first surgery so it was all new. First incision was a small horizontal cut this one is about 2.5inch little longer than my index finger vertical cut.  This surgery has been 100 % different from first.  I walked in thinking I've got this and walked out wondering what the heck I was thinking.  I'm hoping this is the last.

  • I am currently 6 weeks postop ACDF C6-7 and struggling with the hoarseness, raspy, and breathy voice.  My incision is also about 2.5 inches. I also had an ACDF in Sept 2016 for C4-5 but didn't have the hoarseness. I have a follow up with my neurosurgeon on 5/26/17 and will see what he says about my voice still being like this.  Hope your hoarseness resolves soon!!
