New to forum and sciatica

Hello,

I'm here looking for support  and some answers.  I have been experiencing sciatic pain down my right leg since April.  In May I had an MRI which the tech said was Unremarkable except for a slight bulge and annular fissure at L4 L5 but my Dr said otherwise by looking at it and knowing my pain.   Hence a fight between the tech and my Dr but Dr prevailed and insurance approved my epidural.

My current ortho could not schedule my epidural in a timely manner because I wanted to have twilight anesthesia  so he referred me to another Dr.  When I was receiving my epidural right before the procedure I saw him write on my chart spondylolisthesis.  I didn't really have time to ask him about it.  Anyway I was put under, woke up and went home to groggy to remember to ask.  Shot did not work and now I am having shooting pain in my foot and can hardly walk on it.  I feel like its getting worse.  I'm having trouble emptying my bladder until I take a pain pill.  I guess everything is so locked up.  I do go back to see the nurse practitioner (could get in quicker if I saw her) on July 11th so I can schedule another epidural.

I guess at this point I'm just so frustrated.  I don't know what it is I have that is causing my pain.  Its it a bulging disc or spondylolisthesis or both? Nothing is working.  PT, acupuncture and one epidural and it seems to be getting worse. Pretty much homebound.  Walking with a limp and feel as if life is passing me by.  I guess my real question is about the shooting foot pain.  I have had the tingling pain down my leg into foot but this sharp pain is new.  Should I be worried? Did anyone have sciatica this long and have it eventually just go away?

  • I have had 3 c-sections so 3 epidurals and don't care to be awake for another if I don't have to be.  My Dr did not think it an issue.  I will look into the EMG and the ablation.  Just a little nervous with this new pain in my foot.

    hello scout !

curious...have you told the doctor who preformed the procedure of your current symptoms. i'm sure he would want to know so he can guide you and/or reassure you.

also, using search for epidural, you will be led to medical side with formal medical articles and videos. that may be helpful in questions you may have for doctor.
