Meet Dr. W. Chris Fox, MD, FAANS

W. Chris Fox, M.D. is a board-certified and fellowship-trained neurosurgeon at the Mayo Clinic Spine Center.

He specializes in neurovascular neurosurgery and minimally invasive and complex spinal surgery. He believes that commitment to the highest ideals of medicine, clear and honest communication, teamwork, and formulating an individualized treatment plan for every patient improves safety, increases precision and leads to the best outcomes.

Dr. Fox joined Mayo Clinic after 5 years as an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Florida where he was Program Director of the endovascular neurosurgery fellowship and Associate Program Director of the neurosurgery residency.
He was previously an Assistant Professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and served as an active duty neurosurgeon in the U.S. Navy. Prior to his medical career.
He has served as an examiner for the Neurosurgery Boards, on multiple NIH study sections, and is a regular faculty member for national neurosurgery courses.
Dr. Fox played college hockey at the University of Michigan and professionally in the Edmonton Oilers organization. As a former collegiate and professional athlete, he understands the importance of optimizing recovery after surgery.
