Dr. H. Edward Lane III, MD, Fairfax, VA, 22031
Dr. H. Edward Lane started his early career working at the Veterans Hospital in high school and in the emergency room during his college days at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. He then went on to earn his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He completed his internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Georgetown University Medical Center.
Following eighteen years of orthopaedic practice alongside his father in Falls Church, Dr. Lane joined Commonwealth Orthopaedics in Fairfax in 2001. Having been involved in the advent of arthroscopic surgery during his residency, Dr. Lane helped to develop some of the early arthroscopic equipment and continues to dedicate a large part of his practice to sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery still today.
Dr. Lane is involved in a number of professional medical roles and continues to participate in cutting edge orthopaedic research within the Fairfax community. Some of his activities include membership on the trauma team at Fairfax Hospital, service as an investigational physician in the early trials of bone mophogenetic protein, work as a terminal ballistic expert consulting with the FBI and Special Forces, and membership on the board of directors of missing and exploited children.
